Mackay Goes to the Dentist

Mackay had a fun visit to the dentist last week...well, not exactly. We tried to prep him for the experience, but unfortunately his optimism didn't last too long. He made it maybe five minutes--long enough for them to practice doing an x-ray, but he wasn't too into the "power" tooth brush. Nonetheless, from the short exam the doctor was able to give him, he didn't seem to have any cavities. When it was all said and done, Mackay got a sweet toy and pencil...not to mention a new tooth brush! Now that's what I call a fun doctor visit!

As you can see, he started out a little unsure...

But still pretty happy...

He even made it past the mock x-ray...but the end was near...

Can you tell by the unsure look he gave the camera? We were too busy trying to make him feel comfortable to take any more pictures, but take my word for it...it was fun. Good times...

Another Fun Visit

My parents took a little road trip up to New York and decided to stop by for a few days. We had a great time putting them to work on the condo. My dad and I painted the kitchen while my mom and Andrea organized the kids room. My mom also helped with some serious cleaning to the stove and windows. They also helped us with Beckett's new crib. Thanks for all of your help mom and dad!

Beckett The Good Sleeper

Beckett is definitely a better sleeper than Mackay (we still love you Mackay), but he does spit up more (note the rag under his head). Beckett wakes usually once or twice a night. Mackay likes to be supportive where he can...taking a keen interest in Beckett's sleeping habits. Sometimes when Beckett is crying Mackay will perk up his head and say, "Beckett crying" and run out to make sure he is all right.

Beckett at a month old...

Beckett at a month and a half...Mackay at 2 years 4 months.

I Gave Mackay a Haircut!

Mackay's hair was getting long...so with Andrea's permission I decided to give him a sweet buzz! Pretty cool, eh?

Another Grandma Visits

We had a great visit with grandma #2 (my mom) not too long after Andrea's mom left. Mackay enjoyed the visit. He got to go with grandma to the zoo and to get some yummy frozen custard! He even helped me take my mom to the airport, but unfortunately the drive was too long and Mackay was unable to stay awake. When we got back home he looked back at the car and said, "grandma?" It was a great, albiet, quick trip in the end. Thanks for coming mom!

Mackay and Beckett Already Tight

Mackay has really taken to his role as big brother. He loves to walk up to Beckett and give him random kisses...share his toys, like his cars, trucks, and even his monkey...and even get wrapped up together. So far, so good. I can only imagine what it will be like in another year...in another 20 years!

For now Mackay will have to be happy with a brother who likes to sleep--in just about any position, as you can see from the picture. I suspect that will change...soon.

Airplanes Are Always Cool

We had a fun family visit to see the airplanes at the local museum before I went back to work. Mackay sure loves airplanes (and boats and cars and trains). He loved looking at all the different types of airplanes--we even saw a few we recognized from one of his airplane books (like the Hercules and Spitfire). I think his favorite part of the museum was the Navy section where we were able to watch the jets takeoff from the aircraft carrier. The museum had a movie on a screen that looked like you were looking over the deck of the ship. It was a cool exhibit for any boy--even one as old as me!

Beckett didn't seem to show as much interest in the airplanes, but I suppose we can cut him some slack in his first month of the real world.

Crying For Grandma

It was great to have grandma (Andrea's mom) around for over two weeks during all of the new baby action--I don't think Mackay missed his parents too much as long as grandma was around. She certainly knows how to keep him busy...and having fun. She even taught him how to sew. Of course, the visit couldn't last forever. When we took grandma to the airport Mackay was ready to join her on her trip home--which of course we didn't allow. He cried all the way home for grandma (Andrea cried half the way home!). Thanks for all the good times grandma!

Mackay Loves to Ride

Mackay and I love to go on rides together...we go ride by the marina and airport. Mackay loves boats and airplanes! He also loves to get all his gear on...sunglasses and helmet for the full look. Now we just need to get him a Yellow Jersey!

Visit to the Zoo

While I was home, we were all able to go to the zoo--it was my first time since moving here. I got to take Mackay all over the zoo while the ladies mostly took it easy (the zoo is a big hill--not the best right after a baby). Beckett didn't seem too interested in seeing the animals (all in due time), but Mackay sure enjoyed himself. Perhaps more fun than seeing the animals, however, was playing in the misters and getting all wet. Probably the most memorable moment was when Mackay ran endlessly around a life-size pizza as if he were running a race. He just kept on running...and running. I was hilarious to watch him...good times.
